HELP! I Have a Picky Eater

I am stuck in a rut.....a food idea rut. Little Miss Ruby will not eat baby food anymore, which is fine, she only wants big people food and wants to feed herself. I am having a hard time getting creative and finding things that she likes. She likes pasta, and veggie soup, green beans. She likes things that she can pick up and eat by herself, sometimes she eats a lot and sometimes she doesn't want anything to do with it. So I am looking for some advice on how to approach this and possibly ideas on what you guys feed your kids!

  1. Well, just for the veggie dilemma, we buy big gallon bags of Organic frozen veggies (corn, peas, and g. beans) at COSTCO. That way if she will only eat 5 green beans you aren't wasting. The peas and corn are the sweetest and best quality, really! Paige loves brown rice cooked in chicken stock....and any kind of beans. Hardboiled eggs are good to keep on hand in the fridge too!

  2. I probably have the pickiest eater in the world (no joke). Sevrie's diet consists of P B and J's, cereal, fruit, pasta with salt and butter, chips, sugar and more sugar. She sometimes surprises me and eats hard boiled eggs so I agree with Ariel.......keep those on hand!

Have you bought Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfield? There are some pretty good recipes in there so def. recommend it. You could prob. get some of them online too.

I think kids got through phases so don't be too concerned about it. She sounds better off than Sevrie and I'm sure it'll pass. As for my daughter, I don't think it will be as easy.

    Good luck!

  4. I wish I could be more helpful, I also am dealing with a picky eater who won't let me spoon feed her anymore either. One thing I have done is made grilled cheese sandwiches and I cut up into tiny pieces grilled chicken and small bits of veggies since she won't eat those on their own. I also use wheat bread to make it as healthy as possible. My pediatrician was ok with it as well. We also get that organic veggie mix from Costco, it's great.
